The Classroom

The learning environment of a Montessori classroom is carefully prepared to encourage children to explore, play and learn. Specific Montessori materials encourage hands-on learning, analytical thinking and problem solving.

Our Montessori classrooms are filled with natural light, with everything from tables, chairs and shelving to washing up stations at child height, so the children can engage freely with all elements of their environment. The Montessori approach makes use of beautiful, brightly coloured learning items made from natural materials, as well as lots of things from every-day life.

Armidale Montessori Preschool has two classrooms catering for children from 2 years to 6 years of age. Both classrooms are set up using Montessori principals and suited to the age ranges of the children in each room. We are adding to our collection of materials all the time, and it is wonderful to watch the children enthusiastically engage with all the activities in the classroom.

The Montessori approach places great emphasis on a learning environment that looks beautiful, as well as one that suits the purpose of educating children. Montessori materials are hand crafted and displayed on open shelves. Classrooms have large windows and lots of natural light, with easy access to the outdoors.
